PSA takes seriously its responsibility to respect and sustain the Chesapeake Bay and its larger ecosystem. Towards that end, our training, policies and procedures are designed to ensure that members follow all local laws and remain responsible stewards of the Bay.
Member Training and Awareness
The Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries remain under stress. In all of our activities, we teach and apply environmentally friendly practices. Our members will often hear a skipper say, “nothing goes into the Bay that did not come out of the Bay.”
Our training materials and procedural checklists include:
- safe and spill free refueling procedures
- pump out procedures
- clean marina practices
- cleaning our bilges several times each season, pumping out and dumping bilge cleaner and waste water in the shoreside sanitary sewer
- environmental responsibility during winter boat maintenance on the hard
Arundel Rivers Federation
We encourage our members to support the Arundle Rivers Federation to stay abreast of environmental developments in our local rivers.
- Donate to the Federation
- Subscribe to the newsletter
- Follow the blog
- West and Rhode Riverkeeper
- Use the riverkeeper pumpout boat when fuel dock pumpout is not available.
- Report pollution and fish-kills, algae blooms
Many of our members have spotted dolphins in the bay and reported them using the Chesapeake Bay Dolphin Watch app. We are financial supporters.
