While the sailing season is limited, PSA social activities take place year ’round and provide opportunities to meet new members and renew old acquaintances.
Summer Crab Feast
Each year the mid-summer doldrums arrive and there is not much wind for sailing, so we enjoy some crabs, beer, soft drinks and companionship at the PSA annual crab feast. In addition to the crustaceans, menus include potluck contributions from some attendees.
Maintenance Day Brown Bags
At lunch time on our periodic maintenance days in season, we break for brown bag lunch at the waterside gazebos and picnic tables. We enjoy catching up with members whom we have not seen recently. We get to know new members joining the group. Plans are made for future sailing. Maintenance questions are answered. And, the FREE post maintenance sailing is organized for a 3 p.m. (ish) departure. Then when go back to finish working on the boats.
Annual Holiday Party
After the boats are decommissioned and hauled for the winter, we get together in a cozy restaurant for some good food and fun at our annual holiday party. At this time, the newly elected board directors and officers are announced and the outgoing team says farewell.
Winter Pot Luck Socials and Training
While the boats are out of the water on jack stands (“on the hard”) , undergoing our rigorous winter inspection and maintenance program, we keep the fun going with weekend potluck social lunches and training events hosted by various members. Mostly we eat, drink and talk. But we always incorporate a training element. See a sample of the subjects we might discuss.
