Vivace in a tight Wednesday evening race
Outward bound–the view from above
A PSA member takes us aloft for a view of Pisces heading out for a Sunday sail. We do not often see this perspective, but club members can have this experience every week during our long season April through December.
Busy weekend in cool August weather
After some weather disappointments earlier in the summer, PSA crews enjoyed spectacular full moon sails Friday and Saturday evenings with clear skies, cool temperatures and good wind. 10 members on Pisces and Summer Sun saw the best full moon of the season, Between those events, Vivace participated Saturday in the annual Poplar Island race. On top of that, we conducted a maintenance day Saturday, completing routine maintenance, cleaning and inspections.
And on Sunday, a happy club sail on Pisces in beautiful wind and weather!
New Member Training on Pisces
Two PSA training skippers have a happy crew on our Catalina 34, Pisces. Whether new to sailing or an “old hand”, look for emails on upcoming training opportunities.
PSA crew rescues 2 from swamped Jetski off Kent Island
An alert PSA skipper sailed to the rescue when his crew spotted 2 swimmers unable to re-board a Jetski .5 NM west of the shipping channel near Bloody Point. Each time one climbed aboard, the Jetski rolled over. Our crew recovered the swimmers. The Jetski operator was then able to head back to her South River home port. The swimmers sailed safely to Galesville aboard our Catalina 34, Summer Sun, where they met their landside ride home.
Vivace ready to race
After a long winter-spring with the mast removed for inspection, overhaul and modification, the boat completed operational checks and has been returned to service (and racing!)

A Wet Step
On May 24, our racer Vivace got her mojo back as the local yard crew and 3 PSA members re-stepped the mast in a STEADY LIGHT RAIN (sailors’ weather!). Rod rigging re-heading, installation of a new topping lift, overhaul of mast components and renewal of electrical wiring and components were accomplished during the winter. (Click to enlarge.)
Rig tuning, clean-up, sails installation and operational checks are next. We will race in June.
